Expanding Heart is the exquisite new gem of an album from jazz pianist and Bay Area-native Jarrett Cherner. His trio record is at once an artistic statement of meditative discovery and also a gift to the listener with its moods of tenderness and contemplation. Jarrett's second outing as a bandleader is a collection of original compositions plus a handful of covers including two by Ornette Coleman.
